Tree Memories by Salil Chaturvedi

About

The Tree Memories project entails recording the memories of people regarding specific trees from their lives. These could be trees encountered in childhood, the remembrance of which lies buried under the sediments of mundane preoccupations. Or, trees planted by a family and cared for over generations, or trees that have given people a sense of place and fixity in a rapidly changing landscape, or trees that have had a profound emotional affect for a variety of reasons.

Apart from creating an archive of such memories, and mapping them on physical geographies, the project also attempts to give voice to trees themselves which speak through the depths of people’s recollections of them.
