They wanted to create a possibility for foreign artists to work for a certain period as artists in their environment to have an exchange between cultures and artistic practices and for future dialogues. We partner with India, Palestine, Iran, Burkina Faso, and Congo.
Gopa Roy delves into the intricate interplay between landscape, land, agricultural culture, climate change, ecology, and environment, examining their profound influence on human existence. Originating from the Tripura landscape, her migration to Delhi marked a stark contrast in the visual narrative that surrounds her. Her artistic practice revolves around the deliberate juxtaposition of these contrasting landscapes. She utilizes organic materials, particularly rice straw pulp, to bridge the gap between her nostalgic rural recollections and the unyielding reality of Delhi’s urban expanse. The choice of organic materials not only symbolizes the essence of agriculture but also serves as a tactile bridge between her past and present.
